LESSON 9 |God Helps Us When We Listen and Obey

Bible Basis: Judges 4; 6-7; 13; 16

Bible Verse: Leviticus 19:37: “Obey all of my rules and laws. Follow them. I am the Lord.”

Bible Point: God saved his people from their enemies. When I follow God, he saves me too!

Resource: The Beginner Bible

“Deborah Leads the Way” (pages 136 – 139)

“Gideon’s Battle” (pages 140 – 145)

“Samson” (pages 146 – 151)

TABLE TALK: Use the Table Talk questions below to start a discussion around the Table at dinner.

Why did the Israelite Army want Deborah to go with them to fight their enemy? (She was brave and always obeyed God. They knew that God would be with them if she went with them.)

Was Gideon’s army bigger or smaller than the army they were fighting? (Smaller.)

Who cut off Samson’s hair? (the Philistines, who were Samson’s enemies.)

What happened to Samson when his hair was cut off? ( He lost his strength, and the Philistines put him in jail.)

Week 2: Jump Ball – Peace

Main Verse: Genesis 26:1-6, 12-22, 26-31

Life Application: PEACE – Proving you care more about each other than winning an argument

Today’s Topic: Prove you care more about others by walking away from a fight.

Ask: How do you walk away from a fight?

Meal Time: Q&A for kids: If you had to pick one for the rest of your life, would you rather always get the last word in an argument or always get the bigger piece of cake?

Q&A for parents: When you were a kid, who did you find it hardest to stay at peace with? Why do you think that is?

Remember this: “So let us do all we can do to live in peace. And let us work hard to build up one another.” Romans 14:19, NIrV

Since September 2017 we began a new curriculum in our grade school class.

You can download an app and every week you can get progress on what we learned in class and continued encouragement for you!
