Frances Chan does an excellent job explaining how he encourages his children in their daily walk with the Hoy Spirit. I pray it encourages you!

In the Preschool Classroom:
LESSON 8 | I Can Trust God
Bible Basis: Numbers 13; Joshua 2; 6
Bible Verse: Joshua 1:9 “Here is what I am commanding you to do. Be strong and brave. Do not be terrified. Do not lose hope. I am the Lord your God. I will be with you everywhere you go.”
Bible Point: Joshua trusted God to do what he said he would do. I can also trust God to keep his promises.
- “Twelve Spies”(pages124–127)
- “Joshua and the Spies” (pages 128 – 131)
- “ The Battle of Jericho” (pages 132 – 135)
TABLE TALK: Use the Table Talk questions below to start a discussion around the dinner table, while driving in the car, or just about anywhere.
- The Israelites must have been just a little bit scared walking around the wall of Jericho so many times. After all, the enemy was there! Have you ever had to do something scary?
- If you could ask God for help, what would you say?
- (This is a great time to remind your child that God is always with us and that we can ask for help anytime and anywhere!
- Why do you think the spies were so scared to trust God and enter the Promised Land?
- Why can we trust God?
- (Because he always does what he promises he will do!)
LIVING FAITH: Living Faith activity is designed as a drama to help your child remember the Bible lesson.
Have your child select one of the Bible stories from this week and act it out for you as you read the story aloud from The Beginner’s Bible. Give your child props, such as a toy trumpet to blow, and build a wall out of blocks to knock down.
When you come to the place(s) in the story where a Bible character speaks, instruct your child what to say. If possible, have your child perform the Bible drama for other family members in person, via Skype, or using a video camera.
Start a new family practice of looking for prayer requests and praises as you are driving together in your car. For instance, you can ask for God’s help if you see an ambulance go by, pray for the owners of the puppy on a “lost dog” sign, or praise God together for a great soccer game. This will help your children realize that God is with them!
Consider going through photos together as you share how God worked through each of those events. For instance, a wedding photo could lead to praising God for a great family, a baby photo could lead to praising God for a healthy child, and so forth.
Before you eat a family meal together, have each person give a thumbs-up moment (praising God for a part of their day) or a thumbs-down moment (sharing how they need God’s help with an event or an activity).
Can your family memorize this week’s verse? Come up with your own motions and see who still has the verse memorized by the end of the week! Sit down together and allow each member to contribute a motion to help with memorizing this passage. Adults, work hard to memorize the passage as the motions are being determined. Allow your entire family to say the verse until everyone has it memorized.
