The A-B-Cs of Salvation

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. Romans 10:9-10

Have you ever found yourself getting hung up on how to clearly tell someone what they must do to start a right relationship with God? For many years when I was younger I stumbled over the thought of sharing the gospel with someone let alone tried to do it in reality.  We understand that God’s sovereignty is greater than our ability to communicate well, but we also see the challenge by Peter to be ready in season and out of season. (1 Peter 3:15)

This week in Kidz Express we are going to look at a plain way of remembering how we can be ready in season and out with the gospel message. In the book of Romans are a few key verses called the Romans Road. These are 4 verses within the book that lay out the roadway for why and how we come into right standing with God. Recently I came across a great way to remember the different steps:

Admit you have sinned. Romans 3:10 & 6:23 tells us that all have fallen short of the glory of God because of the sin in our lives and that the penalty for that sin is death.

Believe that Jesus died for our sins and rose back to life. Romans 5:8 tells us that Jesus died for us while we were still sinners.

Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. Romans 10:9 tells us that if we will confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that He rose from the dead  that we will be saved.
