Searching for the Lost

Picture2We have all lost things throughout our lives and hopefully we have all felt the joy of finding the thing that was lost. I can think of a few times when our cat would go missing and how distraught I was as a little boy wondering what happened. Did someone steal him? Is he hurt and scared somewhere? Is he even still alive? The questions continued until that moment when my parents told me that he was safe back inside the house.

This week we are going to look at the stories of the lost sheep and the lost coin in Luke 15. God has a wonderful message for us in these parables. We are of much value to Him and when we are “found,” His heart is filled with immense joy. I’ve heard verse 7 described as a great celebration or big party in heaven when even one sinner repents and returns to God.

It is for this very reason that we are focusing on the REACH Project this month: to memorize the Great Commission to remind us what God has called us to do. To invite our friends to help them know God’s love and Jesus’s sacrifice for themselves, and to raise money through our bottle drive so that we can REACH more people in the Henrietta area.

Remember to bring your bottles and cans! Drop them off in one of 4 bins outside the grade school room.
